Orange County government bureaucrats have moved out of the county’s longtime Hall of Administration and into a new building nearby, but this week officials squeezed one more use out of the old building, which will eventually be demolished.
The county offered the empty building, which had housed the Board of Supervisors’ offices and public meeting room, to local public safety agencies for training. On Wednesday, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department tactical team used it to practice breaching a door and for active shooter drills, and the Orange County Fire Authority also took advantage of the space to train for rappelling and rescuing people from a stuck elevator, OC Supervisor Don Wagner said.
The supervisors now meet in the new County Administration North building on Civic Center Drive. Demolition of the old Hall of Administration on West Santa Ana Boulevard is expected to begin in October.
